Kiros Catering began with Mike Mikhail’s love for food and passion for creating extraordinary events from timeless traditions. As the former Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director at Starwood International Hotels, he went on to receive his master’s degree in hospitality from Cornell University. Soon after, the Mikhail family moved to California and opened a café in Ontario.  

Mike’s journey in food has been inspired by the namesake of Kiros, Pope Cyril the Reformer, or “Father Kyrillos” IV. Following in his historical legacy, Kiros became a place for reimagining traditions through modern and elegant expressions. And after years of successful growth, Mike built his café into his dream, transforming Kiros into a full-service catering, fine dining, and special events company in Irvine, CA. Over the years, the once humble cafe has now earned a glowing reputation through elegant events centered on excellent service and the finest in food.

Coming from a background where good food, company, and conversation are the backbone of any relationship, Mike is committed to sharing his culture and values. These values are the foundation of Kiros and the key to every successful event for our clients.

Mike wears a lot of hats within Kiros Catering & Events. Having been an integral part of creating the company, Mike is a true food enthusiast who has previously served as an Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director for Starwood International Hotels. He decided to follow his calling to start a small family restaurant and café in New York. Soon after, the Mikhail family moved to California and opened a café in Ontario. Having crafted his own style and a true artist in the kitchen, Mike has devoted more than twenty years to the mastery of the fine art of fine cuisine. With his great success, a rich experience in the hospitality industry evolved in Irvine, Kiros Catering & Events offering innovative cuisine, refined service to the dining landscape with a singular focus: to exceed expectations whenever our guest gathers for a meal.

Hospitality starts at home and he has always been fortunate throughout his career to have been surrounded by dynamic, talented teams of seasoned event professionals. His career in lifestyle catering conference event services began in Downtown Dubai with two pre-opening hotels experiences at a prestigious luxury hotel group as their ambassador before moving to California. He has gained extensive catering experiences in a larger operation setup at LAX handled one of the top airline accounts. Then after he managed on-site/ off-site catering events worked with well-known family-owned boutique restaurants in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and South Coast Plaza. His dedication and loyalty mark a significant milestone in his service within the hospitality industry. The sky is the limit when it comes to his vision and where he will take his expertise to the next level also creating a memorable experience for our valuable guests with his personal touch.
